Home Sweet Visitor Center in the Middle of the Woods Home

After two long days of traveling, the team arrived in Wildwood, MO, and found our new home for the month. St. Louis Country Parks and Rec let us convert this education/visitor center into a livable space for 10 people.

The anteroom houses a lot of the centers nature exhibits. There are specimens of wasp, bee, and ant habitats as well as samples of different animal hides/furs. We hung some butcher paper to divide this space into a makeshift changing area.

Just off to the right of the entrance is a small room that we crammed some tables and chairs inside of to make our dining room. Connected to this room is a mop closet that we converted into a dish washing/tooth brushing station.

The main room we divided into spaces for sleeping, relaxing, and storing our food/luggage.

At times we feel a little cramped, but we're managing well. Of course, our backyard certainly does help with the space issue! We have 1,730 acres of forested county park to play in.  Our PT Coordinators are definitely utilizing the park for much of our weekly training sessions. We run the trails and play ultimate anything in the fields available.

We're fairly isolated from city life, but close enough to grab a cup of coffee, find some WiFi, shop for groceries, and take in a movie. Just across from our center is a shelter with a fireplace and pic nic tables. Quite a few of our team members took advantage of this last weekend and slept under the stars.

Still working out a few kinks in the way we function as a team and the honeymoon phase may be waning slightly...but our enthusiasm and morale continues to make every situation into something positive.
